Biography

Gregg Christiansen is a composer, musician and music educator living in upstate New York.  As a child and in his teen years, Christiansen wrote popular songs and performed in bands that included school friends.  In his late teens he heard the contrapuntal masterpieces of J.S. Bach and decided to devote his creative musical energy to classical genres.  During and after his training, he has been commissioned to compose music for choral and instrumental ensembles, as well as dance music for piano soloist along with a catalogue of works that include music for orchestra, concert band, string quartet, wind quintet, art songs, and solo music for cello. The composer is a member of National Association of Composers/USA (NACUSA) and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

Mr. Christiansen is currently class music instructor and Director of choral & instrumental music at Keuka College, in Keuka Park, NY, as well as adjunct instructor of music at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, NY.  He has also served as choral conductor/music director for church, college, and community groups, as well as college and community wind bands. He is a Yamaha Certified Keyboard Instructor and has taught class and private piano of one kind or another since 1994.

Gregg spent time studying at various colleges before earning degrees in composition from Oklahoma City University and the University of Oklahoma.  Numbered among his private composition teachers are Phil Winsor, Ray E. Luke, Carolyn Bremer and David Liptak.
